Chronology
The second chapter of Flaubert's Parrot was unusual for a novel. This chapter consisted of a chronology. I thought that it was useful to see Flaubert's background and get a better understanding of why he was so bitter. However, I did find it a little confusing that Barnes used this form of writing in the middle of the novel.

I completely agree with this post, the start of the novel were needed to show the bitterness of Flaubert. I enjoyed learning the background and it further lets the reader dive in to the novel.
I also think that seing the chronilogical order of Flauberts life was really helpfull before we just jumped into the novel
This seems a bit thin; try and pursue your own good observations further!
